My Background
I was born and raised in the Northeast. I studied at the School of Visual Arts in New York City where I received a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree.
In 2016 I moved to Florida along the Little Wekiva River. I am inspired daily by the variety of wetlands, acres of forest, and abundance of wildlife in my neighborhood. I try to reflect my impressions of these surroundings into my work.
My Medium
My favorite medium is oil paint. I love the blending it allows. Often the blending helps to create a softness, and mood into my art. I work with towels , brushes and my fingers to create landscapes. I like the tactile feel I get from "drawing my composition" loosely with a small towel onto the canvas.
I also enjoy working with acrylic paint, and oil and chalk pastels. These mediums give me more freedom and are usually used for sketches but, sometimes surprisingly, turn out as finished artworks, and stand out on their own.
My Inspiration
The incredible settings of the river and woods around my home provides an endless source of inspiration. I love photographing the water, animals and plants on my daily walks with my dogs. These images are often a source of reference for my work.
I love the calm feeling I get when I’m outside in the woods or walking in the river. No phones, TV, internet, or crowds. I enjoy being unconnected, just listening to the birds, animals and the soft ripples of the river.
